After finally viewing TRON LEGACY…and being notably disappointed, I began to take inventory of the 2010 year in film. I found that I was much more often disappointed by the movies I watched than pleasantly surprised.
Among the top disappointments: TRON, IRON MAN 2, THE LAST AIRBENDER, HARRY POTTER 7 PART 1, PRINCE OF PERSIA.
There’s definitely a trend there…as in the type of movies that were of the disappointing sort. No doubt the overwhelming marketing budgets such films have contribute greatly to the expectation…and thus the subsequent let down.
I don’t see this trend changing any time soon either. There are a host of films making big, marketing promises, but my gut tells me that I will feel similarly about such films come end of the year.
